πŸšͺ 🎨 The Door - A History

First the laundry room door was stained wood. But it bored me.
So after a few months of living with it I painted the door pale blue like the kitchen walls. It stayed that way for several months. I added a glass window to it. But it still didn't bring me glee.
So I changed my mind on the color and painted it a sort of greeny aquamarine. It gave the small space a nice bump of brightness. I liked it for about 4 months.
But then...I decided it needed more blue because the tones of my color scheme are more blue than green and it was bugging me. So I painted it navy blue. It stayed that way for 2 hours because it was too dark for the small space. Didn't bring me joy. I kept glaring at it from the living room. Nope, had to go.
Then I went all paint science and mixed some of the navy blue into the aquamarine in a dish to see what would happen. Joy! It made a cheerful turquoise blue. It basically looks exactly the same, but with blue undertones instead of green. So I painted the door for the 4th time. I think I'm done now?
Conclusion: It would be easier if life was photoshop with several layers of history that can be undone. Wow, that got real deep.

Writing notes to Faeries

I've always had a wild, creative imagination fuelled early on by the stacks of books beside my bed. I've always, ALWAYS loved reading and as a kid I consumed books like air. I was particularly drawn to the old Grimm's Fairytales and the fantasy world of Enid Blyton and her pixies, imps and the Magic Faraway Tree.

I believed in fairies....like, really BELIEVED! I herded up the neighborhood kids into my Treestump Club, which mostly consisted of writing notes in teeny tiny writing and putting them in old treestumps for the fairies to find (I think we also made up dances? haha).

So, imagine my utter fooking DELIGHT when I came across this beauty of a book at a secondhand book store! Such a nice nostalgic journey back to a time when my hair was crazy(er) and I was mis-matching patterns before it was fashionable.

SCOOOOORE!

Yasss October!

I've been AWOL from the blog for seven months. Life update alert!

...but I've still been a creative fiend. Not with crafting, but with a few fun projects in graphic design and websites. That's why I quit my job - because my creativity had become almost completely stifled and I was miserable. Going back to my designing roots was the best thing I could do for my mental health and happiness!

Also, my kid hasn't had the best of me for years. I was in evening classes working on my degree for all her baby and toddler years. We both missed out on a lot. Now that she's in her pre-teen years, I'm so glad that I can be around, and I get the sense that she's really happy that Mommy is home for her.

So, I've repurposed my craft room into a cute little office, and my vintage drafting table is home to my iMac. I've tossed the restrictive jeans and shoes, and now wear fun and flirty dresses with a hoarde of strappy sandals and comfy converse. The choice to wear dresses is mostly fueled by the need to stay cool in Belize's tropical weather when ya don't have an AC. Yep, it's been bloody hot.

I've also suddenly started painting my nails in all sorts of funky colors, which is something I always wanted to do but didn't think it was office-appropriate. They're currently an interesting shade of neon yellow glitter haha. Think sparkling vom bile haha! Lovely.

But yaaaaas, back to the topic - it's October!!!! That means that it's basically Christmas and I haven't done a single spot of crafting yet. What to do, what to dooooooo?....Stay tuned.
